Product Description
Prior to listing I have tested the DVD, CD and SACD playback and everything works as it should and it sounds beautiful. I bought this player to use for a second system but never got around it.

Not all DVD players are created equal, as the DVP-S9000 ES from Sony amply demonstrates. The high-end unit comes equipped with progressive scan, which provides roughly twice the scan rate (480p) than traditional DVD players, making film images appear more intensely lifelike when seen on a HD-compatible TV. In addition, the player employs motion-adaptive block noise reduction, which reduces the likelihood of data blocks appearing on the screen, while also addressing motion artifacts with its field noise reduction. Users are invited to fine-tune the images via the digital video equalization settings--which adjust for brightness, contrast, hue, sharpness, gamma, and chroma delay--and then save and restore the custom settings for up to 300 discs.
Another bonus of the DVP-S9000 ES is that it plays not only CDs and DVDs, but also Super Audio CDs, which offer a much higher audio frequency response and make music sound more lifelike and vivid to the human ear. Other audio features include Dolby Digital and DTS outputs for 5.1-channel surround sound when connected to a receiver with surround decoding, the enhanced audio amplification of Digital Cinema Sound, and virtual surround for users with a two-speaker setup. The DVP-S9000 ES also includes such playback functions as a jog shuttle dial that lets users flip through CD or DVD tracks, chapter preview, SmoothScan and SmoothSlow modes, and multi-angle playback.
The DVD player also includes a parental lock feature that prevents children from viewing mature-content material, along with CD and DVD Text modes, which display artists, titles, and even jacket covers on the TV screen. The DVD-S9000 ES includes all the standard audio and video outputs, including component video, two S-video, and two composite video outputs, along with coaxial and optical digital outputs.

I couldn't do the absolute wrong thing so I gave him all of the cash in my wallet,($51)US.After I brought it home, I plugged it in and it worked like a charm.(remote too) I have a ton of SACD's so I put one in, (Dark Side by Pink Floyd) and I couldn't believe my ears! It sounded 100x better than my Oppo that took a dive on me a month ago. I paid over $700 for the Oppo and it lasted only 3 yrs. I can only hope that this last a lot longer as the sound is STUPENDISLY real. Only one problem, it's a Sony:(,, I hate Sony but this thing is built like a tank! The bottom of it is solid brass and the thing weighs about 25Lbs. One other thing, the cord is a 3 prong and is super heavy duty. My Oppo was built like a Mexican's messed up bicycle, cheap and ugly! If you see one of these on C.L. or a yard sale, GET IT!!!! You will not be sorry! P.S. Even the little crystal thing in the middle lights up blue as to tell you that it's... Read more |
